why do emails from friends that are not spam sometimes end up in my bulk email?

friends and clients have sent me email. they have never been marked as spam but end up in my bulk. i’ve missed several important emails because i don’t go through page after page of bulk emails. for example, i receive an email from ‘joe’ in my inbox where it should be, then next week it could end up in bulk. why does that happen? how do i prevent it?
Add them to your address book.
MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY WHO MATTERS IS IN YOUR “ADDRESS BOOK” ! SO YOU WONT MISS A THING!

The others are right; you need to make sure that you have them added to your address book. If they use more than one email address, you need to make sure you have all their addresses in your address book, or you could still lose some.
You could also have 2 or 3 different addresses of your own. One for friends & family, one for banking & personal business, and one for web surfing…this way you won’t get all the bulk junk in your personal accounts.
