Most of the time it will be websites inferior to your own with minimal traffic. The link exchange will get you minimal traffic upgrades and likely more beneificial for the other site getting business increases from you.
I seldom if ever did link exchanges with other sites when I ran my site for like nine years.
your site must be moving up in the rankings becasue the higher sites you have links to are ranked then the higher the other sites move up the ranking. You are popular, that’s good.
Link with those you think will help your ranking even more. Be a little selective, because you can be.
I would not waste time with these types of requests. You are far better off investing time in a legitimate link building campaign.
This would include elements such as:
- Directory Submissions which can be a great source of quality link.
- Listings in industry or niche portals.
- Social Marketing sites.
Be careful who you link to.
Linking to other websites can enhance your search rankings, but can also hurt your rankings.
And for each reply you send the possibility of your email address getting into the hands of spammers increases.
I hope that helps.
