I want to add a genuine email id of my friend to white list. His mails presently treated as bulk. What to do?

Genuine emails sent by my friend are going to bulk folder. I want to know how to add his email id to white list and have his emails put into my inbox. I am presently transferring them to inbox manually though I have included his name to my contact list.

Any one may like to guide me suitably.
